Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (Somalistandard) – Reports coming from the Somali regional government, specifically the Siti region in Ethiopia, indicate  that a renewed war has erupted in the western areas of the region. The conflict is reported to be involving Somalis and Afar ethnic groups.

According to local sources, the conflict reignited after Afar militias attacked areas in the west of the  Siti region, resulting in casualties on both sides.

Thursday’s battle reportedly took place in Dabamara, a location in the west of the Siti region.  However, detailed information about the ongoing war between Somalis and Anfar is scarce at this  time.

The situation in the Somali regional government has been tense in recent years, with sporadic  outbreaks of violence between different ethnic grouos.

The region has a history of inter-communal conflicts, often driven by disputes over resources, land,  and political power.

The Ethiopian government has previously deployed security forces to the region to quell violence  and restore peace, but tensions have persisted.

The latest outbreak of hostilities between Somalis and Afar is a cause for concern for local  authorities as it could further escalate the situation and threaten the stability of the region.

It comes amid growing calls for the Somali regional state and other relevant authorities to take swift  action to address the root causes of the conflict and work towards finding a peaceful resolution.

Local community leaders have also called for the Ethiopian government to lend support to efforts  aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Somali regional state and the wider region.
