Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (Somalistandard) – The Deputy Commander of the Ethiopian Defense Forces, Gen. Abebaw Tadesse, has issued a stern warning in response to the disbandment of the Special Forces of the Autonomous Regions of Ethiopia.
Addressing the federal government’s decision, Tadese emphasized that any attempts to intimidate, use force, or hinder the implementation of the plan would not be tolerated and would be met with consequences.
Tadese reiterated that the Ethiopian government does not accept the existence of another armed force within the country, but is open to peaceful dialogue with those who are willing to come to the negotiation table.
However, he strongly warned those who resort to intimidation, violence, or force, drawing upon the recent successful military operation which ended the Tigray conflict.
The disbandment of the regional forces and their militias, FANO, has triggered protests among the Amharic people. FANO has been accused of committing crimes and atrocities, leading to concerns among the local population.
The situation in Ethiopia remains tense as the government grapples with various challenges, including regional tensions, armed conflicts, and human rights issues.
The dissolution of regional forces and the government’s response to opposition has raised concerns about the country’s stability and the potential for further unrest.
