Fatal Crash in Kampala left 5 dead

KAMPALA, UGANDA – Tragedy struck on Saturday evening when a trailer carrying water from Kampala to Mityana lost control and collided with five other vehicles, leaving five people dead and several others injured.

According to ASP Faridah Nampiima, the traffic police spokesperson, the trailer’s tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control and collide with five other vehicles. The collision resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including two passengers in a Toyota Hiace (registration number UBE613E), two others in a boda boda, and another individual in a car with registration number UAV 515J.

Several others sustained severe injuries and were immediately rushed to Mulago Hospital for medical attention. The identities of these victims are yet to be confirmed, and inquiries into the accident are still ongoing.

This tragic incident highlights the importance of ensuring that vehicles are well-maintained and roadworthy before hitting the roads. It also serves as a reminder to drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to avoid similar accidents.

The Ugandan Police have urged motorists to take extra care while driving, especially when transporting goods or materials. They also advised commuters to report any suspicious or reckless driving behavior they may observe.
