(Somalistandard) – The Arsenal football club has suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Wednesday,  effectively ending their hopes of securing their first league title in 19 years.

Although still at the top, their position is threatened by City, who are now only two points behind  with two games in hand.

Despite Arsenal’s recent winless streak, they have been one of the best teams in the Premier League  this season, with 43 points from 16 games.

Their away form has also improved dramatically this season, securing 11 away wins, compared to  only nine last season, and they have only conceded 25 goals in 27 games before William Saliba’s  injury. However, their defensive record has suffered since then, with 13 goals conceded in six games.

While City has scored more goals than Arsenal this season, the Gunners have the highest number of  key passes in the division.

Manager Mikel Arteta has been praised for his positive work with the team, including switching to a  midfield three and allowing young players like Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka to flourish.

Critics have quickly labeled Arsenal as “bottlers,” but the team’s position at the top was unexpected,  and it may be unfair to use such a term.

Regardless, Arsenal will need to work hard to regain their winning form if they hope to maintain  their top position and challenge for the league title in the near future.
