Kampala, Uganda (Somalistandard) -. Rwandan chili and avocado exports are thriving, with demand coming mainly from European markets.

John Kiki, a Rwandan economic told Somalistandard that the German market is particularly favorable, as Rwandan chili is already well-known there.

While there has not been much progress in entering the UK market, negotiations with British importers are currently at an advanced stage, he said.

The prices of Rwandan avocados are currently stable and affordable, according to Kiki.

This is a welcome change from the period during the pandemic and global fuel/gas problems, which saw prices fluctuate significantly. While it is difficult to predict where prices will go, Kiki is confident that their prices will remain competitive.

On the supply side, the expert says that they have more than enough volume to supply their current markets, which is why they are now looking at new markets in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

The growing demand for Rwandan products is a positive sign for the country’s agricultural sector, which is vital to its economy.
